Grease traps for restaurants
Grease trap installs, repairs and cleaning for restaurants and commercial kitchens, plus jetting of the lines downstream so grease stops causing backups.
Commercial kitchens
Every commercial kitchen sends fats, oils and grease down the drain. A grease trap catches it before it reaches the sewer, but only if it is the right size, installed correctly and kept up. When a trap is full or damaged, grease moves into the drain lines, hardens and causes the backups that shut down a kitchen during service.
We install new grease traps, repair or replace damaged ones, and clean them out. The team at Empire Plumbing and Heating LLC can also jet the line past the trap to remove buildup and run a camera to confirm it is clear.
Warning signs
Grease problems tend to show up at the worst time, usually in the middle of a busy shift.
Prep and dish sinks that drain slowly often mean the trap is full or grease has built up in the line just past it.
Strong odors near drains or the trap usually mean it is overdue for cleaning or a baffle or seal has failed.
Floor drains filling with water during service point to a blockage downstream that can quickly shut down the kitchen.
Grease showing up in cleanouts or downstream drains means it is getting past the trap, and the trap needs attention.
How we handle grease
We open the trap, check the baffles, inlet and outlet, and see how full it is and whether anything is damaged.
We clean out the trap and repair or replace damaged parts. If it is undersized or failing, we price a replacement.
We use hydrojetting services to scour hardened grease from the drain line past the trap that a simple snake would leave behind.
A camera run shows the line is clear and lets us spot breaks or sags that would catch grease again.
Why restaurants call us
A grease backup during a dinner rush costs a restaurant more than the repair. We fix the trap and clean the line beyond it, so you are not calling again in a few weeks. We also help you plan how often the trap should be cleaned based on your volume and menu. Our grease trap services in Dundalk, MD also support local commercial kitchens.
Cleaning the trap without clearing the line leaves half the problem behind. We handle both in one visit.
We plan non-emergency work for before opening or slow hours whenever possible.
New traps are installed by a licensed Maryland plumber, with work ready for inspection.
You can see the cleaned line on camera, so you know it is clear and not just draining for now.

It depends on the size of the trap, how many meals you serve and how much grease your menu produces. A busy kitchen with fried food needs more frequent service than a cafe. We can look at your setup and help you plan a cleaning schedule that prevents backups.
Yes. We install grease traps in existing kitchens and new build-outs. The right location and size depend on your fixtures and the available space. We look at the kitchen, explain the options and give you the price before work starts.
Grease often builds up in the drain line past the trap, where pumping does not reach. A damaged baffle can also let grease through. We check the trap, jet the downstream line and run a camera to find the cause.
